For 20 years Dr. Sadler has been conducting longitudinal studies of people who have been reshaping the life course and transforming aging by creatively redesigning their middle years. His last book focused mainly on people growing through their 50s. This groundbreaking work has been reissued in paperback and translated into German and Dutch. His new book, with co-author James Krefft, Ph.D, focuses on people who are continuing to grow in their 60s and 70s and creatively redefining retirement. Bill and Jim have also been working with professions and organizations to develop third age careers. Since receiving his doctorate from Harvard (1962), Bill has been teaching sociology, business, and interdisciplinary courses in universities and colleges in the United States and Canada. His publications include 4 books and dozens of articles. He has also held various administrative positions – department chair, college dean, and chief academic officer. He was a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Chapman University, a tenured professor of Bloomfield College, where he founded a nationally recognized freshman core program, and is now teaching the leadership concentration in the MBA program at Holy Names University. He is a founding director of Spiritual Alliance for Earth and The Center for Third Age Leadership. Bill has been speaking around the country to organizations, professionals, business and community leaders, churches, and universities about the possibilities and potential in the Third Age.
