Margery Silver, Ed.D.

Dr. Margery Silver is an accomplished speaker who brings to people in mid-life a guide, (based on her study of 100-year-olds) for making the most of the bonus years -- an increased life span that may last 20 or 30 years beyond traditional retirement age. Living to 100 has been published in 5 languages. Dr. Silver has appeared on Japanese, Korean, English, and Canadian television, in addition to her U.S. appearances on PBS, the Discovery Channel, Dateline, the Today Show, and Oprah Winfrey. She has also been a guest on talk shows in the US, Canada, and Australia.

A neuropsychologist, geropsychologist, and developmental psychologist, Dr. Silver brings a broad professional perspective to her talks. She is Associate Director of the New England Centenarian Study at Boston Medical Center, Assistant Professor of Neurology at Boston University Medical School, and Lecturer in Psychology at Harvard Medical School. Her research on centenarians and healthy aging has been published in professional journals and other publications, such as the New York Times, and the Washington Post.

In addition to her professional perspective, she brings her personal perspective as a caregiver and as a societally labeled “old” woman who applies her own experience with aging and with negotiating life’s transitions to her third career and to sharing lessons with others about the challenges and opportunities of the bonus years.
